William Hacke was a map-maker living at the sign of Great Britain and Ireland, near the New Stairs at Wapping. He was responsible for a Collection of Original Voyages published in 1699, which included an account of the adventures of Captain Bartholomew Sharpe in South America. It was from Captain Sharpe that Hacke obtained the necessary information for the construction of this atlas, and a copy of it, inferior in its graphical depiction of the coasts and lacking some of the aids to navigation an...
